Meet Dr. Amy Seghi, PT, DPT
Education
I received my training at St Louis University in St. Louis, MO. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Masters of physical therapy in 2005 and Doctorate of Physical therapy in 2010. I also served as an athletic trainer for the University’s Division 1 athletes – including being the head travel trainer for women’s volleyball and softball.
Experience
I’ve worked in multiple rehabilitation settings–from a leading rehabilitation hospital in Chicago to outpatient clinics in the Bay Area–which provided me with opportunities to treat patients with many common and complex conditions.
Certifications
After moving to California in 2016, I became LSVT Big Certified for Parkinson Rehab and continue to work in the outpatient rehab setting treating patients with both orthopedic and neurological conditions. I’m a certified clinical instructor and member of the APTA, including the private practice section. I also work with the Pacific Stroke Association of the Bay area including the Golf 4 Life events to help stroke patients return to playing golf again.
Care Approach
I enjoy working with patients with orthopedic conditions from sports and overuse injuries to joint replacements, and neurological conditions, including stroke and Parkinson’s. I believe “Movement is Medicine,” which is the mission of my practice. When we keep ourselves moving forward, we stay proactive in our health and enjoy the activities that matter most to us and our families.
Hobbies
I continue to enjoy an active lifestyle myself, including barre, golf, yoga, hiking, running, skiing, and playing sports with my family.

— learn about the process —
You get 1:1 personalized physical therapy with an expert physical therapist. We offer a flat fee schedule for physical therapy services and there’s no doctor’s referral or prescription needed to get started.
Step 1: Initial Evaluation
Step 2: Personalized Therapy Program
Step 3: Goal Reassessment
Initial Evaluation
- Review your medical history
- Perform a comprehensive physical exam
- Collaborate on your wants, needs, and goals
For minor injuries, you can start with a free, 15-minute injury screening. These sessions help to identify an initial diagnoses. A full evaluation is required to create a comprehensive therapy program. These sessions run 45-60 minutes and will set a baseline as we work through your therapy program.
1:1 Therapy Programs
- Manual therapy, joint mobilization,
- Range of motion and strengthening
- Specific functional exercises to address your goals
Each physical therapy session is one to one with Amy and will last 45 minutes. Your program may call for one or multiple sessions per week, depending on your unique needs and goals.
1:1 Therapy Program
- Exercises that address your situation
- Modalities such as manual therapy, stretching, or heat/ice
- Range of motion activities
Each physical therapy session is one to one with Amy and will last 45 minutes. Your program may call for one or multiple sessions per week, depending on your unique needs and goals.
Ongoing Evaluation
- Add, adapt, or remove exercises
- Increase or decrease frequency of sessions
- Adjust goals as you make progress
Physical therapy is all about progress. I’ll continually reevaluate your progress after each physical therapy session to determine the next steps for you in your program. We may make adjustments to add or remove elements of your program, such as new exercises, changes in frequency/reps, duration, additional modalities, or move toward discharge if you are meeting or exceeding your goals.
— questions & answers —
Do I need a doctor's order to get started?
No, you have direct access to our physical therapy services without first needing a referral from your doctor or healthcare provider. Based on California regulations, you can been seen for 12 visits and/or 45 days before requiring further authorization from a physician.
How is MIM Physical Therapy different?
Unlike many physical therapy clinics, we offer 1:1 therapy sessions. We come to you in your environment and your program is tailored to serve your needs. You get our undivided expertise with no therapy sessions run by a physical therapy tech or assistant.
What patients and conditions do you see?
I treat patients of all ages and abilities. I have expertise to help patients with a variety of conditions, both complex and common orthopedic and neurological conditions. This includes joint pain, sports injuries, overuse injuries, balance impairments, and chronic neurological conditions, among others.
How long do therapy sessions last?
Therapy sessions average 45 minutes. Evaluations are 45-60 minutes.
When will I see results?
As each person’s unique therapy needs are different, results may come quickly or may take time. We’ll work together to set and reach your goals.
Does MIM Physical Therapy accept insurance?
No, MIM Physical Therapy does not accept insurance. We are a cash-based practice. However, we will provide you with a superbill so that you can submit your bill to insurance for reimbursement. We accept cash, check, credit cards, FSA and HSA payments, Venmo, or PayPal.
As a concierge physical therapy practice, we offer the highest level of physical therapy service. Insurance is often limiting for patients, in terms of coverage and options. These rules and regulations often force therapists to see more patients or have a physical therapy assistant work with patients, which can drive down the quality of care.
Also, if you are not limited in your daily life but want to improve sports performance or maintain wellness, insurance won’t often cover these services.
What is your fee schedule?

Initial Evaluation (60 minutes)
